GEMVAL503 – Identify and estimate weight of gem material in jewellery

Short Courses

This course forms part of the 10789NAT Diploma of Applied Gemmology (Valuation).

(This can be undertaken as a stand-alone course).

Overview

Measuring mounted gem material is often a common routine for many of today’s jewellery tradespeople. Weight estimation is necessary when the valuation of a gem material is required and the stone cannot be removed from its mounting, either because the client will not allow it or because the item might be damaged. This course focuses on identifying, measuring and estimating the carat weights of mounted gem materials.
